Elevating the Surface....

"Elevating the Surface"
Reception: Friday, Jan. 20th, 2006-Atlanta, GA

The substance of my work is rooted in the belief and recognition of the spiritual world we live within. As a southern painter I have an affinity for all that has been used- that which has served some purpose and therefore must be recognized. The effects of time invoke a crippling, yet beautifying change. Whether it's vintage motifs interlaced with blazing gold leaf, or the weathered wood grain of an old axe handle- the worn and tattered have a story to tell about our spirit. The works range from eloquent subtleties of tonal transparent layering, to dramatic imagery of dreamscapes and imagination. This show elevates the simple to the magnificent, revealing a spiritual order that recognizes Divinity through messages of adoration.
